2010 CoARQ – competition for students

CoARQ: now open for registration!

No.1 international competition for architecture students
Nowadays students and architecture apprentices around the world are facing an even greater and difficult challenge: designing human beings habitat. It may be in an individual or urban scale, the private and collective space now demands an even greater preparation and experience from architects. That is why CoARCQ launches the call with the intention to promote the acknowledgement and participation of students and apprentices of architecture around the world, today more and more committed and aware of the role to be played not only in their communities but worldwide.

Objectives
The aim of the competition is to collect all those projects with the best quality and relevance, developed and elaborated by students around the world, in order to put them under the evaluation of the jury members to grant them a prize of recognition to their achievement and commitment to the discipline of Architecture.

Categories
The categories within which participants can register their projects are the following:
1. Collective housing: housing complexes projects, dwellings etc.
2. Urban design: urban regeneration projects, intervention in historical contexts, public squares, public spaces etc.

Prizes
The following prizes will be awarded by category: a first prize in both categories, consisting of MX $50.000 Mexican Pesos (converted ca. € 3222,-) each. Moreover in each category three submissions will be awarded with a honorable mention.

Participation costs
The registration fee for each project is MX $900,- for participants within the Mexican Republic. For participants outside the Mexican Republic payment will be made in US Dollars (USD $75,-) or Euros (€50,-).

Schedule
April 26th, 2010 – Competition launch
September 10th, 2010 – Registration deadline
September 17th, 2010 – Submission deadline
September 28th, 2010 – Jury deliberation
September 29th, 2010 – Winners announced
Participants will be notified about the date for the award ceremonies.
