location Brisbane
function canopy, mall

The project was envisaged as the centre-piece of the renewed Queen Street Mall, with an aim of generating an iconic urban marker for the crossing of Queen Street Mall and Albert Street and a place to meet, an orientation point within the city. The roof is designed to frame, without blocking, the view from King George Square to the Botanic Gardens. The structure is made up of prefabricated steel legs, leading up to a series of lighter materials for the roof, using etched glass and timber in a series of layers to provide shade and protection from the weather.
