This is the first of two projects that Daniel Sutter of K_M Architektur has built in Batschuns. This one is a three bedroom house that initially seems large, but only because it is wrapped in a series of timber verandas. The core, or enclosed part of the house, sits directly over a concrete basement, and all the external areas are cantilevered off this core. The ground floor is split into three distinct parts: Firstly the car port, entrance and garage. This leads directly to the second zone; the living, kitchen and dining areas which enjoy views to the south over an external deck. On the north side of the house is the third area, comprising a study and cloakroom, separated by a small court. On the first floor are three bedrooms, including a master suite. Again all enjoy prospects to the south, and all rooms have access to a large external terrace. Externally the building is clad in a combination of timber and copper strips.
