The new public library for this Flemish seaside town of Blankenberge involved the refurbishment, re-organisation and major extension of a former 19th century school building which has protected status as a local monument. It's design should be about "housing readers using books", instead of "housing books", following Kahn's vision on Library-design. (free to architects description).
