PHL Student Restaurant

The Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg (PHL) is a college of higher education. It occupies a campus near the ringway of Hasselt, the capital of the province of Limburg. The 750 seat student restaurant is situated on the southern edge of the campus, adjacent to the Demer river. Along with the student restaurant, the building provides a wide range of amenities to both staff and students, including a cafeteria, a central repository, a bookshop, offices and conference rooms. All functions are located on different levels on both sides of an interior street, which links several buildings on the campus. This luminous space constitutes the building's backbone and is used as a meetingplace by the students. The construction incorporates the structure of two existing buildings. Slightly sloping bridges span the interior street, connecting the different levels of the existing structures.
