The National Theatre in Brasília was designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the shape of a truncated (Aztec) pyramid. It is adorned with an array of concrete cubes and rectangles, designed by Brazilian architect Athos Bulcão. Construction started in 1960 and was finished in 1981.
