Architect Mailly was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's S.C. Johnson Research Tower, built in 1950. The facade is composed of articulated panels specially designed by Jean Prouvé to allow its metal structure to move freely without damaging the windows or wall coverings. This building was the first office tower in the La Défense business district. The curved glass used on the corners was unknown in France at the time of construction, and was made specially by an American glazier.
