City Pavilion Antoniter Church
In the middle of the busy Cologne Schildergasse stands a medieval evangelical church as quiet place. In the midst of the commercial street Schildergasse with overloaded store fronts, this place offers a moment of peace and withdrawal: the prayer, the lighting of a candle, inner reflection. Around 20,000 people walk past here every hour. The adjacent City Pavilion is located behind the church and can be reached from both sides, coming from the Schildergasse. It contains a public café (Café Stanton), an exposition place and meeting room. The cubical volume opens up to a secure rear garden with quiet intimacy. Between an ancient and modern venue the public terrace offers nice views towards the next shop-aholic destination: the Peek & Cloppenburg department store nextdoor.
