Church Community Building
Next to the neo-Gothic St Petri Church a new brick building is completed for the community center of the church and neighbouring kindergarten. This solitaire cubic brick block gives the north face of the Domplatz a new urban accent.
The church itself is one of the major works of the Hamburg architect Alexis de Chateauneuf. It was built in 1849 on the grounds of the old St. Peters Church from the 14th Century, which was destroyed after the Great Fire of 1842. In one of the aisles of the church hall now a vicarage is built. The glass, translucent interior addition was also designed by architects Akyol Kamps.
