Jean Prouvé

location Weil am Rhein
function gas station
contributed by Naomi

The station was designed to be portable so that the gas station placement could be modified. This made it quite easy to ship it off to Vitra and rebuild it. In 2003 Vitra incorporated it into their collection on the factory grounds near Basel. Jean Prouvé (8 April 1901 - 23 March 1984) was a French architect and designer. His main achievement was transferring the manufacturing technology from industry to the architecture, without losing the aesthetic qualities.
