The City Museum Building was designed by Ciaran O?Connor and Ger Harvey, architects with the Office of Public Works. The museum is located along the River Corrib, and beside the Spanish Arch, a protected monument, part of the defensive medieval wall that once was around the city. The design creates a new square, between the museum and the Spanish Arch, this public space is used for civic events. The plan is composed in an "L" shape. It was restricted to 3 levels to mantain the scale with around buildings.
