1.500 m above everyday life. No traffic noise, no rushed business meetings, no arrivals nor departures by car. This 5 star hotel and spa in the South Tyrolean Dolomites can be reached only by cable-car or on foot, high up on the flanks of the legendary Vigiljoch - Lana’s landmark mountain, 8 km from the city of Merano. Nature played a primary role in the design. In the integration of the existing, unspoiled nature, as well as in the overall appearance and the materials selected: wood and glass, both materials from renewable resources yet able to exploit the warmth of sunlight. All rooms are outfitted with a clay partition wall, which stores warmth and moderates the room climate. The resort is stoked by a biomass plant, CO2 neutral and eco-friendly. Existing elements, such as wooden structural elements from a 300 year old barn, were integrated into the building. The pronounced horizontal structure of the wooden lattice façade creates an artful balance between nature and architecture.
