S9 Housing

The S9 building is the refurbishment of an old warehouse and workshop. The project included the addition of a new floor and a detached balcony with a steel and wood structure. It is a sort of contemporary rendering of a 'casa di ringhiera' (literally: 'banisters house'), a typical housing type in Italian towns, mostly in the Northern part of the country. They consist of inner courtyards where all the housing levels and the apartment entrances are like open balconies, overlooking the courtyard itself.
