Philharmonie Luxembourg
Philharmonie Luxembourg is located in the centre of a triangular site, surrounded by offices and European Administration buildings on the Kirchberg Plateau. One enters a vast perimeter/filter, composed of 827 slim white steel columns, giving access to two halls, the Grand Auditorium and the Chamber Music Hall. The first is characterised spatially and acoustically by eight towers containing balconies and lodges, which house the public vertically around the orchestra and the orchestra pit. The second is an exterior volume, contained within a twisted plane, to avoid the sound focussing and at the same time creating a curved space (text from website architect).
