The Angle
The Angle, Almere the Netherlands is a four storey mixed use housing and retail project containing 54 dwellings and 3900 m2 of retail space completed in 2007. In 1996, Office of Metropolitan Architects (OMA) began developing a masterplan for Almere that would provide 1000 new housing units and a host of other cultural facilities such as shops, a museum, library and theatre. S333 worked alongside internationally renowned architects including Rem Koolhaas, Kazuyo Sejima, Gigon and Geyer, MVRDV, UN Studio, SeArch, Christian Portzamparc, William Alsop and David Chipperfield. The Angle (block 7 + 9) is the final project in OMA’s masterplan to complete and it signifies the completed construction of Almere’s brand new city centre that is expected to reach up to 250,000 inhabitants by 2010.
