City of Cahen

The City of Cahen is located at a unique place in the historic and vivid centre of Amersfoort. Few know that behind the façade of white concrete blocks an architectural highlight is hidden with the charms of a North African kasbah. The unique design is a clear exponent of 'structuralism'. To stimulate social interaction, intimacy and liveliness Cahen pursued a multifunctional space with a warm welcoming nature in his design. This created a building with several rooms, spread over six towers, surrounded by a maze of alleys, squares, corners and stairs. Beating heart is the central square, roofed over by an impressive skylight. City Cahen is designed in such a way, that you can see people at work and admire the central square, while walking through the public alley (during office hours) between the Muurhuizen and the Kerkstraat.
