Apotheek Archipel
In Amsterdam, a former shop for industrial products has been transformed into a pharmacy and a centre for general practitioners. The main goal of the design was to create an open relation between pharmacist and clients. For that reason the counter (made of wenge wood) has got a very open structure, while the semi-transparent signing on the glass walls creates interaction between the ‘back’ side of the pharmacy and the side in use by the public. In Apotheek Archipel, a lot of space is created for informing the public. For instance, on the counter there are two areas for placing folders.
