Conservatorium of Amsterdam
Being part of the new cultural area in Oosterdokseiland, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam is designed by architect Frits van Dongen to fit properly in the narrow slots of the overall concept. In order to gain precious light, the building has an outer shell of windows that not only provide illumination to the rooms and corridors, but also serve as a sound barrier from the outside environment.
The program consists on several elements; 5 auditoriums, a school with classrooms and the study rooms, the library, offices and the foyer. They all work together managing spaces from collective to individual, making it´s main concern the learning and performance of music.
