IAA Architecten
location Amsterdam
contributed by Grohe

An exceptional piece of industrial heritage, a breath-taking view of the IJ and the city of Amsterdam and a neighbourhood brimming with creativity - Crane Hotel Faralda offers an unforgettable hotel experience for all lovers of extravagant and exclusive accommodation. The developer Edwin Kornmann Rudi had the giant crane dismantled, refurbished, transformed into a design hotel and reassembled at its location on the former shipyard. He was supported by the firm IAA Architecten, and interior designer Edward van Vliet. Renowned industrial partners such as GROHE contributed to the interior design. Access to the three suites as well as the rooftop Jacuzzi and lounge platform is via two panoramic elevators, which carry guests to the three distinctly designed suites. Ample glass surfaces combined with red painted steel accentuate the stature of the industrial crane, that stands as a monument to its own history while at the same time projecting a highly contemporary design message.
