Piraeus
This large housing block measures 170 by 57 meter, and has 330 apartments, commercial space, an underground parking, and two enclosed public spaces. It is wrapped around a 19th century industrial building, renovated into houses. The south side of Piraeus is 4 stories high, the north 8. At the entrance to the western enclosed garden is an artwork of Arno van der Mark, fixed to the 96 columns. The block has 150 different types of apartments, of which 95 % is social housing (rent).
It is a bit of a strange building, large, dark and somber, but in shape and detail very beautiful. All facades are very different in rhythm, details and openings.
