Inside this ‘world-food-house’ at the famous Amsterdam open air marketstreet Albert Cuyp is a typical arabic markt-feeling created, in an enormous building, a real souk. It is a very lively, busy place, chaotic but always ‘gezellig’ (untranslatable Dutch word for cosy; with friends). Different styles meet in the interior, the food and the personal service. Cheap and flavorful North African cooking covering the range from falafel to mixed grilled meats is served here in an atmosphere of convivial chaos. Next to the countries largest open air market, it is also the perfect place to break for coffee in between rounds of market wandering. Bazar also has a restaurant in Rotterdam, at the Witte de Withstraat, number 16. This venue even has a hotel, with twenty-seven rooms furnished in Middle-Eastern, African and South-American style.
