Jan Hoogstad, chosen as the architect after a study assignment for the triangular site, designed the theatre as a transition between the historic city of Delft and the Zuidpoort commercial area. In the design the architect applied the 'Golden Ratio' while dimensioning the proportions. On either side of the 21 meter high stage tower the two auditoriums of the theatre are situated; one large seating 525 and a small auditorium with 120 seats, separated by a foyer. On the back sides of the building the loading area and offices are located behind a curved façade. At the request of the municipality space was reserved along the ground floor of the building for commercial space to liven up the area. While the idea turned out not to be commercially viable, the store front windows have been kept in place. Due to changes in the urban plan the architect was asked to move the entrance to the North-side. A move that ended up improving the logistics and the spatial experience of the foyer.
