Natuurcafé La Porte
The restaurant space at Driebergen-Zeist train station was not in use for many years, and is now transformed into a new modern restaurant, combined with an information centre and exposition space. The transformation is initiated by 3 organizations: Antropia, National Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the tourist information centre VVV. Their main goal is to show their shared mission for a sustainable entrepreneurship where nature, environment and well being is served. The restaurant and information centre 'Natuurcafé La Porte' for the nearby Nature Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug, are seamlessly connected: the spaces and public for both functions merge and interconnect. Several energy-saving measurements have been implemented, such as 3-layerd glass and a wind-turbine on the roof. The most innovating element is the human empowered revolving entrance door to create large public awareness. Visitors themselves now provide for the energy that is needed make their cup of coffee.
