Community school De Boschkens
The community school is a significant element in 'a wall of houses around a green residential area' which forms the urban planning concept of De Boschkens. The building is one of the corner stones of the urban plan. Higher than its surroundings with many lovely views, the school is in a prominent position.
The location of the community school is made even more special by the presence of an elevated bicycle pedestrian bridge that connects the adjacent area with De Boschkens. DAT has used this connection as a starting point for the design and thus has strongly influenced the final concept.
The community school forms literally the connection between the two areas and has become the 'corner tower' of the De Boschkens area.
The main shape of the building was formed by the existing landscape and the innovative connections which are part of the design. This created the brick sculpture that gives new meaning to this place.
