Groningen University Museum
The new entrance to the existing museum leads the visitor to the exhibition rooms, alongside the reception and conference room. The entrance-pavilion is designed as a moving, almost dancing, flowing space, in contrast with the existing structures. With the addition of the new shape the square in front of the museum is redefined as a new outside meeting space for students, inhabitants of the city and people who work here. The shape is abstracted from the routing visitors need to follow, starting at the public space, the Oude Kijk in ‘t Jat straat, through an alley to the courtyard. Even the reception desk is integrated into the shape of the routing.
