The ISW Hoogeland has made a choice to place two independent schools at one location. This offers young people in Westland a larger opportunity to go to their specific school. A reorganisation at Wageningen agricultural university means that a number of former experimental plots have become available on the southern perimeter of Naaldwijk. The proposed use of the entire area – Hoogeland – will be highly diverse, with two large schools in the northwest corner. United, and yet still independent. On this island, there are two schools, with the same form, joined by a ‘built-up bridge’ on stilts that physically divides the square, while visually bringing it together. The pupils stream under this bridge to park their bicycles on the north side of the island, where a fold in the terrain provides a playful element in the landscape. From here, the pupils then enter the school from two directions.
