This petting zoo complements the ensemble of the 9 buildings of Noordwijkertuin (also by Onix, also on MIMOA). The zoo is situated in the middle of pasture land and thus offers man and animal a relaxed place to meet. To emphasize a feeling of safety for the clients, a basic structure involving a large sheltering roof was developed. This was subsequently cut in two by means of a footpath for passing pedestrians, creating a building that effectively realises the integration of visitors and clients. The building offers a home for man and animal, featuring stables, a hen house and also a fašade for all kinds of birds to nestle in. The clients pet and take care of the animals and also work in the kitchen. They meet each other as well as visitors in the multifunctional area and on the terrace. A continuous light street provides all the interior areas with an atmospheric luminosity.
