CORPUS
This striking building along the A44 in the Netherlands includes a museum and a congress centre with a car park. The museum part exists of eight construction layers with on one side an overhang. In the façade a model of a human body with an altitude of 35 metres is incorporated. The steel framework of the headstock has been tailormade around the emergency stairs in the torso of the body and has been built from stabilising rings at each level. Characteristic for the congress centre is the large column-free spaces and the overhang above the split-level car park. This is created by a framework in the façade, which gives stability as well. CORPUS is not so much a museum as an experience, where visitors can make a journey through the anatomy of the human body.
