Private House Oirschot
The focus of the house is the view, the garden and the wind corridor for the nearby windmill.
By placing the sleeping area partially underground, where the temperature is almost constant, this area requires minimal heating or cooling.
The north-facing street side is virtually closed whereas the south-facing garden side is totally open.
The glass curtain wall on the garden side is recessed in a frame and has movable (automatic) and fixed exterior sun blinds. In summer, the blinds exclude inconvenient sun; in winter, the desirable sun is used to generate passive solar energy.
The use of a ground source heat pump to provide heating, hot water and cooling makes the energy management sustainable and the house extremely comfortable.
