The Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) is more than a museum of architecture. It is above all a cultural institute. The NAI has one of the largest architecture collections in the world; 18 km of shelves containing drawings, sketches, models, photographs, books, journals and other materials. Virtually every prominent Dutch architect since 1800 is represented. Researchers, students, and anyone else interested may consult the archives in the library. The institute offers facilities for research and a platform for discussion. The NAI presents exhibitions and issues publications which aim to inform, inspire, and stimulate both professionals and the general public. The NAI follows both national and international developments. Modern-day architecture from around the world is shown in changing exhibitions. Foreign visitors often use the NAI as a starting point for architecture trips in and around the Netherlands. For this purpose, the NAI offers lectures, tours etc. for foreign visitors.

Opening hours Galleries and Sonneveld House: Tuesday - Saturday: 10:00 - 17:00. Sundays and national holidays: 11:00 - 17:00. April 8/9, May 17, May 27/28: 11:00 - 17:00. December 5: 10:00 - 16:00. Mondays, January 1, April 30 and December 25: closed. Library and Reading Room: open Tuesday - Saturday: 10:00 - 17:00. Closed on Saturdays in July and August. Please note that if you wish to examine documents from the archives on Saturdays, you must request them before 16:00 the Friday before.
How to get there? Take tram 5 or 4 from Central Station, to Eendrachtsplein. Or walk the 10 minutes from Rotterdam Central Station. Upon request the NAI offers guided tours of the building, the permanent collection and the temporary exhibitions. The guides will take you around Jo Coenen's building and show you that there is much more to architecture than simply making buildings. Reserve 2 weeks in advance at the Education Department on on +31 (0)10-4401321 or complete their online application form.
