Water Tower of Living
This water tower, which dates from 1931, was converted into an unparalelled, 21st-century home, spread over nine levels. Many challenges were faced in the design. Firstly, to let more daylight in and strengthen the relationship with the back courtyard by inserting a three-level high window frame. Secondly, to maintain the interior's industrial characteristics by working with materials like steel, concrete and glass. Lastly, inside the tower, to ensure an effective, efficient layout for several small, round rooms that lay on top of one another, while preserving the tower's spaciousness.
