Kindercluster Noord
Kinder Cluster Noord (child cluster north) is a typical example the ‘Broad School’ or multifunctional centre, which is popular in the Netherlands lately. Generally the program of these projects contain several primary schools, kindergarten, community centre, (professional) sports hall and a small theatre or café, and sometimes even a library. The intention of these social community centres is to combine services for the neighbourhood into one single building, and thus pressing costs for the municipalities and at the same time, providing opportunities for the future inhabitants to use spaces of their direct neighbours, and work together on the agenda and programming of these spaces. Normally, these kinds of projects have several clients, all with their own ideas, and not seldom conflicting or contradictory wishes. For the architect the task to get all requirements right ánd please all persons and institutions involved. Here VMX architects succeeded in making a socially fit building.
