Built since the Neolithic times, log houses, characteristic of villages in the Opole region, remain a paradigm of rationality and simplicity. The architects of the administration and reception building for the Opole Museum of Rural Architecture also made use of this model. Only these architects, who won the design competition organized in 2005, referred to the form of huts in the museum in such a clear and bold manner. All functions are located in an over 50-meter-long building with pitched roof. The entire building was faced with difficult-to-work-with, hard acacia wood. Shingles were made of it, as well as vertical mobile lattices, which can be raised like shutters. The entrance is in the middle, in a J-shaphed, glass 'space' dividing the building into two parts. To the right of the entrance, there is a generally accessible visitor area with a souvenir shop and an audio-visual hall; museum offices occupy the left part of the building (text from Architektura-Murator 10/08).
