Casa de Serralves
Old property of Count of Vizela, the gardens of Serralves are an amazing example of the French style gardens together with the romantic influenced gardens and more recently with the Museum of Contemporary Art beautifully designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira.
The House of Serralves was the main house of this whole property and began its construction in 1925 to be finished only in 1944. Designed by the Porto based architect José Marques da Silva, author of numerous beautiful beaux-arts buildings in Porto (Central Station, Aliados Avenue, ...). This House is a great example of the Art-Déco style of the early 20th century in Europe. Designed with a great simplicity and minimalism, the interiors have an enormous attention to the details and the natural light.
