A shopping mall which became a catalyst for the revitalization of Insadong. Unlike the tabula-rasa mentality commonly seen in many building projects, the existing street shops were rebuilt and incorporated into the new center, and, along with the setback of the building, allows for the complex to melt into the street-scape. The circulation around the atrium allows for shoppers to browse through the unique stores, while being able to experience public events that take place in the central space. Elegant detailing and simple contemporary materials - brick, glass, concrete - are used to create pockets of intermediary space and moments of joy. There is a hum, a collective energy in this space generated by the use of the building.
