Roman Theatre of Cartagena Museum
The Roman Theatre of Cartagena Museum joins Riquelme Palace and the Church of Santa Maria La Vieja to the Roman Theatre complex, with the theatre being the most important component in it. The construction comprises two buildings, joined by a corridor: the first one permits access from Riquelme Palace and surrounds a yard or impluvium. On its different floors, it offers service rooms, such as the lobby, cafeteria, a temporary showroom, a library, a record and study room, offices and meeting rooms. The second building has a connecting terrace to the entrance of the Old Cathedral, and will be designated to house permanent showrooms. These exhibition areas, illuminated by a sophisticated system of ceiling lights, are used as a framework to showcase excavated artefacts and will lead the visitor from the lowest quarter of the city to the interior of the Roman Theatre.
