"19 Of the world's best architects create the hotel of the future in Madrid". Each of the hotel's 12 floors bears the imprint of a different design talent. The external structure was developed by SGA Studio and is a fairly standard rectangular tower block. Pawson did the common areas, while Jean Nouvel designed the cladding on the facade and was commissioned to design the 12th floor. Zaha Hadid designed the first floor which is characterized by sinuous lines and fluidity based on new developments in digital design. Norman Foster's serene second floor draws inspiration from the palette of the Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida. Designed by John Pawson, the hotel foyer, reception, and meeting rooms offer a sense of tranquility in the heart of the hotel. This effect is achieved through his use of natural wood and a semi-circular reception area that shelters guests from the constant motion passing through the lobby.
