Marmo Bar Puerta America Hotel
" Nineteen of the world's best architects create the hotel of the future in Madrid". Each of the hotel's 12 floors bears the imprint of a different design talent. The external structure was developed by SGA Studio and is a fairly standard rectangular tower block. Pawson did the common areas, while Jean Nouvel designed the cladding on the facade and was commissioned to design the 12th floor. Marmo Bar, designed by London-based Marc Newson, features Statuario Venato white marble weighing more than six tons. The walls and ceilings are lined with 400 thin strips of laser-cut aluminum. To Marc Newson's opinion, the project has been an excellent opportunity to design what he always wanted to find in a hotel: “to create a modern and relaxing environment in the rooms, where any guest can feel comfortable at once, even if they are staying only one night”.
