Museo de la Catedral de Murcia
This project has renewed and expanded the Murcia Cathedral's Museum. It shows a contemporary construction contrasting with the original gothic structure. The new materials are used fearless and there is not any attempt to hide them. The entrance's glazed passage is the most characteristic element of the renovation; it allows seeing the foundations of the former Mosque. The exhibition space is divided in two levels. The lower one occupies several chapels; the intervention is limited to restore and recover the original structure, adding a wooden floor and technical elements. The upper exhibition floor is at the cloister's archery; the intervention is stronger here: a bright white in-situ floor, a metal fire-proof painted ceiling and galvanized steel installation conducts are clearly visible. The courtyard of the former cloister hosts the new core of communications and services; elements like a green concrete staircase and artificial grass floored rest room show its modern construction.
