Athletics stadium

Between the city of Olot and the La Garrotxa Natural Park lies the Tussols-Basil area: a space for sports and leisure activities. The athletics track stretches amid two clearings in an oak tree forest, separated by a small lava formation where some trees have grown. The project highlights the beauty of the landscape and preserving the vegetation as a filter that changes with the seasons. The slope and the sinuous fields bordering the track adapt to the topography and perform as natural stands for the public. The slender lighting towers become points of reference in the landscape. A small pavilion with a bar and a storage space serves the needs of the soccer field and athletics track spectators. The structure consists of two Cor-ten steel volumes joined by a thin roof and by a pavement made of the same material. It is a 2x1: the combination of two elements in one object facing a new stage. In 2010 the entrance building with changing facilities was finally realised.
