The Culinary centre, located in Gastronomic City San SebastiŠn will have a Faculty of Gastronomic and Culinary Sciences and a Research and Innovation Centre, led by the worlds best cooks. Local architecture office Vaumm, won the design competition and presented a building that projects an emphatic, innovating, suggestive and daring image whilst also attempting to integrate it into the hillside respectfully. With using the existing height difference, the programme is organised from the access point downwards. Its organisation around an external space, centring relations, shows the dynamism flow of movement of people. The volume refers to a pile of stacked plates. The project shows the parallel between gastronomy and architecture, as both chefs and architects produce their work for others, giving support to other people's enjoyment. The roofs are used for the care and cultivation of plants used in the centre's kitchens.
