When the Church of Sweden was parted from the state and Sweden received a new burial act. The Österhaninge parish began 2002 to investigate how to comply with the legislation. Numerous persons were interviewed to ensure the needs of all. As the first phase the mortuary reception, staff quarters and lavatory for visitors were built. 2012 time had come to the funeral ceremony hall without any religious insignia. For those who wish symbols can be projected on the wall. The intention is also that one could be in video contact with people who cannot attend. The room is unconventional with its curved forms were the basis is not the coffin in centre but rather outlooks towards the landscape. The portable benches are not straight but curved making those who mourns come closer. An important symbol is the "glimmer of hope" a high narrow window in the middle. It directs the way forward irrespective if one believes in a life after death or not, that life goes on even for those who mourn.
