Novartis is aiming to transform the St. Johann site - its headquarters in Basel - from an industrial complex to a place of innovation, knowledge and encounter. The new Campus should offer Novartis employees and visitors an environment for intensive levels of communication and work, which is ultra-modern, very functional and aesthetically pleasing. The master plan on which all these changes are based is by Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani. The individual special buildings are to be designed and also realized by invited architects like Peter Märkli, Diener & Diener and Japanese office SANAA. Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani, whom Novartis commissioned to produce an overall plan for the St. Johann project, is an architect with a practice in Milan and a chair in urban development history at the ETH in Zurich.

Opening hours The campus and offices of Novartis are not open to the public, its like a forbidden city for architecture lovers. Maybe you could get in with a tour from the Basel Architecture Museum... but don' t count on it. you can find the development-map here: http://www.novartis.com/ downloads/about-novartis/visitorsmap.pdf
How to get there? The area is situated next to the river, just before (or after) the Dreirosenbrucke. Coming from France: Motorway A35/E60 direction Basel, after customs enter left into the tunnel and follow the signs to Basel St. Johann. From EuroAirport Basel take Airport Express Bus PTT 50 to Kannenfeldplatz. Change to Tram 1 (direction Dreirosenbrücke) stop Novartis Campus. Across the street you find the main entrance to the Novartis Campus. From Bahnhof Basel, also take tram 1, same way.
