St. Jakob Park
St. Jakob Park is the stadium where FC Basel play. "Joggeli" as it is nicknamed, has a current capacity of 39'000 seats. Switzerland's first multi-purpose stadium, was inaugurated in 2001 after just two and half years under construction. Situated on the south-eastern edge of the city in extensive park and recreation grounds, the world-renowned Basel architects Herzog & De Meuron have constructed an "experience park", which, with its unique dimension, bold architecture and ultramodern infrastructure, provides the optimum setting for large-scale events. It combines a football stadium with shops and restaurants.
