A sculptural monolith with facades that respond to varying characteristics of its urban context, this building has become a new landmark of Basel Nord. Constructed out of light, fair-faced concrete Volta Zentrum appears as a dynamic and polyvalent structure that includes commercial spaces as well as apartments grouped around two inner courtyards. Facing the Vogesenplatz square, the Zentrum's facade slants upward as it opens to the public space dotted with sculptured concrete seats.
