Buchner Bründler renovated in 2010 the Youth Hostel. They cleaned out the building and brought back the industrial atmosphere of the former Silk factory it was before 1979 (concrete, oak wood, raw steel, ceramic tiles and glass). A wooden bridge along the building opens up the building towards the Sankt-Alban river and connects the existing red building with the new concrete building. This concrete building houses at ground floor level a public terrace and at the upper floors the single and twin rooms, the group rooms are situated in the renovated building. The clarity of the details, in the existing and even more in the new building arrest the attention. If you stay in Basel, you have to book at least one night here.
