The castle as a historical witness, the church as a spiritual place, and the new visitors centre will be a secular building for tourists. It forms the main entry point to the Laufen hamlet and to the Rhine Falls. The floor plan follows the typical visitors process. On the short end of the building, facing the parking garage, the cash and information counter are located. Next to it, closer towards the entrance of the Rheinfall castle, is the new bright and spacious gift shop. From there the spacious multi-purpose room upstairs can be reached by the internal by staircase. At the end, in the historic part of the building, it houses a snack-bar/restaurant. The back of the building contains access to public toilets. The building has movable awnings that provide additional sunshade and clear entrance to the public functions, while at night and outside the season these can close the façade and reduces the building to it's primitive volume.
