Pavilion
This take on the classic glass pavilion is no demonstration model for a transparent utopia, nor is it an attempt to 'frame' the natural surroundings. It is a less formal design for a kiosk in the park beside Riesbach Harbour in Zürich. The take-away restaurant, with seating for 35, is contained within a glass object that is in keeping with a series of sculptures in the park. The polygonal shape, the transparency and lightness of the material, and the various tints of the colored films on the glass, ensure that, depending on the time of day, this object stands out from or merges with its surroundings. On a less prosaic note, another reason for choosing glass was the fact that graffiti and dirt can be easily removed.
