This group of three houses was built by Peter Aldington and his wife, intending to live in one and sell or lease the others to help finance the scheme. The project is visibly influenced, in parts, by Aalto's Saynatsalo town hall, together with the local vernacular, which is interpreted in a modern fashion. The group sits around an entrance court, which also provides parking. Each house is 'L-shaped', having 2/3 bedrooms with a private courtyard to the front, and larger gardens at the rear. Aldington's own house contains a studio which for many years served as the practice's office. It also features an extensive rear garden, which has found fame in its own right. The walls are concrete block work, rendered externally and simply painted inside. Roofs are timber mono-pitches, covered with concrete tiles. The houses were listed Grade 2 in 1998, cited as being "exceptional and influential" examples of modern architecture.
