10 Gresham Street sits on an island site in the City of London, roughly rectangular and orientated North-South. The programme creates two parallel, 18-metre wide floor plates, separated by a linear atrium. However, this is not expressed externally. Eight floors rise above the ground, with the top two being shallower due to a chamfer or step-back on the envelope. Each corner is distinguished by limestone clad stair towers set at the bisecting angle between adjacent elevations. The triple-glazed façades are finely crafted with shadow gaps between the major elements. These appear to be formed from steel sections, but are, in fact, just aluminium pressings. Timber louvers between the outer and middle panes control solar gain.
